    Questions

How is Trace Map different from a navigation app?

A navigation app takes you from A to B. Trace Map plans a hike: a route line over several days, passes, camps, alternate routes and a hiking schedule — and on the trail it shows whether you are keeping to the plan.

    How much does it cost?

Nothing. Every feature is free: no subscription, no Premium, no sign-up.

    Does it work without internet?

Yes. The map of your area is downloaded for the trip, and track recording, auto check-ins and the schedule all work in airplane mode.

    Is there an iPhone version?

Yes. Android gets an .apk file; on iPhone the .ipa installs through AltStore or Sideloadly.

    How do I plan a multi-day hike?

In the trip planner: draw the route line, split it into days at your camps, add passes and water — the arrival time at every point is worked out for you. For a single stretch, try the hiking time calculator.

Can I hike together with friends?

Yes: send your companions the join code, and everyone sees each other live on the map.

Can I bring a route from another app?

Through GPX: import a track or route, and export it back with points and planned times in their names.
